The Ultimate Guide for a Fun and Safe Summer

The Ultimate Guide for a Fun and Safe Summer

The sun is shining. The weather’s getting hotter. School’s out. Everyone’s hitting the beach and making big summer plans, and you want to make the most of your summer. You definitely don’t want to get to September and think, “Man, I had so much stuff I wanted to do, but I barely did anything!” Fortunately, with a little bit of help from this guide, you can have a seriously fun (and safe!) summer.

Be a Beach Trip Prepper

New York is home to a lot of beaches, and it’s easy to get to most of them by train or bus, so you don’t even need a car to get to a full day of sandy fun in the sun. Of course, those spur-of-the-moment beach trips can get a lot harder to plan and execute if you aren’t ready. That’s why we love having a “beach bugout” bag ready for when you absolutely need to get out the door and hit the shore!

Basically, take a cue from those crazy preppers you see on reality TV, but instead of packing a bag for the end of the world, you’ll just pack a tote with everything you need for a great day at the beach. Take a tote bag and fill it with a towel or two, some sun block, sunglasses, flip flops, and your bathing suit. Then put it by the door, and you’ll be able to bug out to the beach whenever you want!

Make Protein-Rich Popsicles for a Healthy and Refreshing Treat

Remember how popsicles were the most refreshing and fun way to cool off after playing in the sun? Well, whether you’re out playing in the sun, you’ve just gotten back from the gym, or you’ve been roaming around the hot streets of Manhattan all day, you can enjoy that same refreshment but add a healthy protein boost.

Mix up your favorite vanilla or plain Greek yogurt with some chocolate protein powder. Pour it into Dixie cups, and stick popsicle sticks in them. Then freeze them, and you’ll have perfectly portioned, delicious protein pops whenever you need them. With this kind of refreshing snack, you’ll have all the energy you need to get back out there and really make the most of your summer.

Make Your Ultimate Summer Bucket List

Speaking of all the things you want to do this summer, why don’t you make a bucket list for the summer? Instead of a list of things you want to do before you die, though, this list will be all the things you want to do before summer kicks the bucket.

Start by sitting down and brainstorming about the cool things you mean to do every summer, like taking a kayak tour around Long Island, doing an outdoor fitness boot camp or yoga class, or going to the beach at least once a week. After you have your list, it’s time to get your calendar out. Look at the time you can take off work, when you’ll be free during the week, and what weekends you’ll be able to get away and do more. Then pencil in all of your fun activities.

You don’t have to stick to your summer fun calendar or check everything off of your summer bucket list, but penciling things in on your calendar will make them feel more real and concrete. And you’ll be less likely to put those fun activities off until it’s too late. Plus, if you look at your calendar and see that you’re supposed to go to the beach next weekend, you can start inviting friends to go with you now. Before you know it, you’ll have a whole crew ready to hit the shore with you!

So, are you ready to get your summer started? Use this guide to kick it off right, and have the best summer ever!
